| STAR WARS TV Series IGN FilmForce reports that Lucasfilm is seeking screenwriters for its planned TV series based on George Lucas' Star Wars film saga. Keeping with Lucas' penchant for security, the show will be scripted at the bearded one's secluded Skywalker Ranch. Work will commence this January. Lucas and his colleague Rick McCallum will produce the still untitled show. The series is slated to run 50 hours and will be a mixture of live-action and CGI. Principal photography will begin in 2007 with filming to take place in Australia. While the show will apparently revolve around imperial bounty hunters, there could be other directions taken. The series will take place after the Empire has risen to power. | |

Best known for his Oscar winning films “West Side Story” and “The Sound of Music,” Wise also directed the classic “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” “The Andromeda Strain,” “Star Wars: The Motion Picture,” and the 1963 version of “The Haunting.” He made his directorial debut in 1944 with “The Curse of the Cat People.” In 1941, he worked as a film editor on “Citizen Kane,” and was the last surviving crew member of that film. Wise bears the distinction of having earned an Oscar nomination for 1941's "Citizen Kane." | |

- REH issue delayed! The October 2005 issue of FIRSTS containing the update to the Collecting Robert E. Howard article by Don Herron has been delayed due to a major schedule reshuffling. It is now tentatively scheduled for March 2006. On the plus side, the March 2006 issue should also feature William F. Nolan writing up HPL. The July/August, 2000 issue (shown at the right) of FIRSTS featured Don Herron's first article on collect REH first editions. FIRSTS has established itself as the premier publication in its field. Now in its fifteenth year, FIRSTS is an invaluable resource, providing information, entertainment, and an entry into the delightful world of book collecting. Bond According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar nominated scribe, Paul Haggis ("Million Dollar Baby" and "Crash"), has signed on to do a rewrite for "Casino Royale," the upcoming 21st installment in the James Bond franchise. Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson originally enlisted Neal Purvis and Robert Wade -- screenwriters on "The World Is Not Enough" and "Die Another Day" -- for the first crack at adapting Ian Fleming's 1953 novel. Haggis is taking the next shot for director Martin Campbell ("GoldenEye"). MGM and Sony can take as much rewriting time as necessary, because the franchise is missing a leading man. Rumored candidates to take on the role of 007 are Goran Visnjic ["E.R"], Alex O'Lachlan ["The Oyster Farmer"] and Clive Owen ["Closer"]. The show is at the same location as last time -- the Ramada Inn, Bordentown NJ ... just off Exit 7 of the New Jersey Turnpike. BVP has room for 48 tables, and has already sold 24. BVP just spoke with illustrator EVERETT RAYMOND KINSTLER on the telephone, and he's accepted our invitation to be our Guest of Honor -- along with illustrator LOUIS GLANZMAN, who claims that he's always wanted to meet fellow artist Kinstler. EVERETT RAYMOND KINSTLER is a native New Yorker who began his career at age 16, drawing comic books and hundreds of book and magazine illustrations, as well as covers for paper back books. As one of the "golden age" era of comic book artists, his illustrations for magazines, including The Shadow and Doc Savage, have influenced the pop art school. He studied at the Art Students League, where he later taught from 1969 to 1974. Kinstler ultimately made the transition to portraitist, and soon established himself as one of the nation's foremost portrait painters. For over four decades, Kinstler also has devoted time to painting landscapes and watercolors. Kinstler's life and artwork are the subjects of two recently published books. LOUIS GLANZMAN was born in 1922, raised in the farmlands of Virginia, he is a self educated artist. He began his career at the age of sixteen as a comic book illustrator. In the 40's he served as an illustrator on the Air Force magazine for the US Air Forces. During the 50's he illustrated numerous children's books, including the popular 'Pippi Longstocking' series. He is listed in 'Illustrators of Children Books.' Always working as a free-lance illustrator, his paintings have appeared in Readers Digest, True, Argosey, Colliers, Boys Life, New Yorker, National Lampoon, Saturday Evening Post, etc. His career led him for a short sojourn as a court reporter for Life magazine. The covers for Time magazine enhanced his career as a portrait painter, and he is a member of the 'American Portrait Society.'
