Recent online rumors were buzzing recently with stories about the Wachowski brothers returning to not only produce the next Conan movie, but to write and direct it and a second installment as well. There were even rumors that Warner Bros. was lining up Arnold Schwarzenegger to reprise the title role and to make Conan the first film once he finishes his political career. Official word from Warner Bros.: "All the talk about Arnold Schwarzenegger being in two more Conan films is premature at this point. First, Governor Schwarzenegger has to finish off his term and then he can announce what his plans are." Curtis, who was diagnosed four months ago with a brain tumor, died at his home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles. Curtis often collaborated with Richard Matheson. Super-Deluxe Version on DVD! Last week I posted that I read a rumor that there will be a Super-Deluxe KING KONG DVD coming later this year. On March 23rd, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY posted an online interview with Kong's director, Peter Jackson, that revealed a little bit more information regarding a potential Super-Deluxe DVD release. Can we expect an extended version of Kong on DVD in the future? I hope so — that's very much up to Universal. Obviously, doing an extended cut of Kong is expensive.... Every extra minute of film that you add, you're adding potentially another 20 or 30 more visual effects shots. So I think Universal are getting their heads around all that. We're figuring out what the sequences could be, because we do have a lot of really great scenes that we didn't put into the movie — some very very exciting dinosaur sequences — so I'm hoping there will be an extended cut. On March 27, Peter Jackson talked Kong DVD with Dark Horizons. Question: And no major deleted scenes or anything like that? Jackson: No, that's all been saved for ... it depends on Universal making a decision, but they seem to be pretty keen on the idea of doing a 3 or 4 disc release, towards the end of the year which would include deleted scenes and bloopers and a whole new raft of docos that would go a lot deeper into the technical stuff of the making of the film that we couldn't show in the production diaries. Kelley is going back in time with a new drama project for ABC, which has received a put pilot commitment with a hefty penalty attached. The show, targeted for fall 2007, is based on the BBC's 2006 sci-fi crime drama "Life on Mars," which stars John Simm as a 21st century detective who, following a car crash, mysteriously finds himself working as a cop in the 1970s. April 29, 2006 The 9th Annual Fantastic Pulps Show & Sale will be held Saturday, April 29, 2006 from 10am to 5pm. The location as always, is the lower level of the Lillian H. Smith branch of the Toronto Public Library, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The show is a small but pulp specific event of 25 tables, featuring pulps, pulp reprints and related items, as well as video and a scattering of other collectables. The show is a friendly event, and the city of Toronto has many attractions to offer for a vacation/pulp outing. CONVENTION (#6) - May 5-7, 2006 The Windy City website has been updated to add initial info on next year's show. IMPORTANT NOTE – In mid-June, the hotel we’d used in April 2005 and had booked for April 2006, the Ramada Plaza O’Hare, informed us they’d been sold and were demolishing their convention facilities in late 2005. We were fortunate enough to reach a deal with the Wyndham O’Hare (in many respects a nicer hotel) – which is right next to the Ramada – to take the con in 2006, but the only weekend they could accommodate us for 2006 was May 5-7. So, both the hotel and dates have changed if you pre-registered at the past Windy City Pulp & PB Con! This year's theme will be celebrating the 75th Anniversary of The Shadow, and in connecion with that anniversary, we're planning a number of special Shadow displays and events. Warner are relaunching the popular "Conan the Barbarian" films, with the next chapter widely known as KING CONAN. Jeff Robinov, president of the WB film division told the following to The Arnold Fans: "I can't say much but Jeff Robinov is definitely hoping that Arnold looses the race for a 2nd term as governor so he can make his place back into feature films with KING CONAN. The film might not even be called KING CONAN anymore and instead go back to CONAN THE CONQUEROR. The title KING CONAN sounds like a finale and that's not what Warner Bros. wants." - Darrin McGavin passes away Darren McGavin passed away on Saturday 25, 2006 of natural causes. Darren was just three months short of his 84th birthday. The tough-talking performer was one of the busiest actors in television and film, starring in five TV series, including "Mike Hammer," and endearing holiday audiences with his role as the grouchy dad in the 1983 comedy classic "A Christmas Story."
