    Initially the volume/issue numbering attempted to continue the volume numbering of the British edition; that was changed with the January 1903 issue and subsequent volumes have US-specific numbering. Note also that many issues have N.S. Number 18 (or similar) on their covers; it is not known if this is supposed to mean “New Series” or “Newsstand Series” or yet something else.
