The Argosy USA; Apr. 1894-Sep. 1896 (formerly a weekly entitled The Golden Argosy, 9 Dec. 1882-24 Nov. 1888, retitled The Argosy, 1 Dec. 1888-31 Mar. 1894); Munsey Publications, New York; monthly; standard format, 10¢; became an all-fiction pulp (the first such), Oct. 1896-Sep. 1943; editor Matthew White, Jr.; although initially a story paper, and later best-known as a pulp, it is important to remember that The Argosy was a standard magazine for two-and-a-half years in this 1894-1896 period.
