- Lippincotts Magazine
- * ___ features Lippincotts was at one time a major magazine, then in 1914 was sold to McBride, Nast & Co. (according to John Tebbel in The American Magazine) which changed its title to McBrides Magazine (also in 1914, according to Tebbelhes wrong, of course, since I have the bound volume, etc.) and within a relatively short length of time sold again to Scribners. In its heyday, Lippincotts first published The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Sign of the Four, the first novel by Mary Roberts Rinehart, etc., etc. Not many articles, not many illustrations, though the line cuts they occasionally used were quite good. Under McBride ownership, the lead novel was usually reprinted from a McBride book. Probably the same thing when owned by Lippincott.

- Lippincotts Magazine
- * ___ v 93, No. 553, January 1914 (25¢, 128pp) from the bound volume (lacking covers) at the U of Minnesota Libraries. At the end of the bound volume are well over a hundred pages of combined, unpaginated advertising sections; besides ads, each contains a long column, Walnuts and Wine, with poetry, quotes, jokes, and fictional vignettes, plus another column, Twentieth Century Travel by Churchill Williams on motoring issues. The short pieces in Walnuts and Wine are signed and in total number exceed the real contributions in each issue, but I dont have the energy to index the lot especially since there are no page numbers and no issue dates with which to identify them (though the latter could be deduced by relative position). Maybe at some time in the future... [Denny Lien] (Contents)
