- WHITE, (George) ARED (1881-1941); Adjutant-General of Oregon, the commanding general of the 41st Infantry Division; his obituary called him Oregons No. 1 Soldier. He was also one of the 1919 founders of the American Legion; and, of course, a writer of stories featuring the Army, secret agents, and spies. Born in Long Branch, Illinois; died in Clackamas, Oregon. (chron.)
