DOLD, DOUGLAS M(eriwether) (1888-1931); Author and editor, later blind from injuries received during World War I. In 1915 Douglas and his younger brother Elliott (who became an artist) enlisted in the Serbian army and were captured by the Bulgarians. Born in Long Island, New York; died during the 1930’s.
         For the curious, William Elliott Dold, Jr. (i.e., Elliott Dold) (1892-1957) was born in Long Island, New York; he died in Charlottesville, Virginia. (chron.)
