Magazine using "stories of the action type, all complete in one issue. It aims to augment the interest of readers by means of prize offers for criticisms of its yarns and the "spotting" of anonymous authors."

Confusingly the first issue is labelled "Vol. 8 No. 7" which seems to be the combination of a typo (it should have been Vol. 3 No. 7) and the continuation of numbering from a non-fiction magazine called Reconstruction which ran for thirty issues from Jan-1919 to Jun-1921.

Poetry magazine that publishes a small number of short stories in each issue.

Golden Atom was a fanzine of which 10 issues were published between October 1939 and 1943. Two special issues were later published. One in 1955 and one in 1959. Part 2 of the 20th Anniversary Issue was never published.

Essentially a British reprint edition of the American Golden Book, which was edited by Lanier. Like the US edition, the UK one also had an Editorial Advisory Board consisting of W. Somerset Maugham, Laurence Binyon, J.B. Priestley and A.E. Coppard, though it is unlikely that they did much, if anything, as the contents were almost all lifted entirely from near concurrent US issues. Reprinted works by Victor Hugo, Anthony Chekhov, James Stephens, O. Henry, Zane Grey, Alexander Dumas, Guy de Maupassant and others. It did not seem to be able to tap into the same market carved out by the British Argosy.

Listed in "The Howell Magazines" by John Marim, a spoof article first published in Peon #26, Feb-1953. Supposedly merged with Musketeer in Feb-1931 to form Musketeer-Golden Book Magazine.

Children's story-paper; still had circulation of 100,000 in 1894. Ran first story by Edward Stratemeyer ("Victor Horton's Idea", 2-Nov-1889 - 30-Nov-1889). Apparently only two complete sets are known - in the Library of Congress and Philadelphia Public Library. From Vol.20 on most contents were reprints.

Subtitled "A Magazine Anthology for Bookish Folk", published a selection of reprint articles and stories.
