Title:  8 1929-30 AIR WONDER STORIES, Gernsback
Description:  Item Specifics - Magazine Back Issues Issue Type: Monthly Issue Subject: Science Fiction Month: -- Publication Name: -- Publication Year: 1929 Language: English This auction has 8 fascinating issues of Air Wonder Stories published by Gernsback Publications. It is a larger (11 3/4" x 8 1/2") better quality pulp magazine with beautiful covers by Paul, lots of air/space stories, nice illustrations and ads. All issues are complete and in relatively good condition as they have been stored for years in plastic sleeves. Individual flaws will be menioned with the issues. October 1929 (Vol. 1 #4) featured Ed. Earl Repp, Harl Vincent, and Henrik Dahl Juve. The front cover has two areas of fold marks (not that noticeable) along the upper right third of the front page. November 1929 (Vol. 1 #5) featured Repp, E. Hamilton, and Jack Williamson. The back cover has a 2" tear but is complete. December 1929 (Vol. 1 #6) featured Repp, Newton, and Hamilton. January 1930 (Vol. 1 #7) featured Repp, Johnson, and George Allan England. The lower left hand corner of the front cover is missing 1/2 " of the corner and the back cover has tiny areas (about 1/4") missing sections. February 1930 (Vol. 1 #8) featured England, Key, and Juve. The back cover has tiny sections of the upper edge missing/frayed from the left corner. March 1930 (Vol. 1 #9) featured Chappelow, Hamilton, and England. The front cover has a 1/2" x 3/4" of the lower left corner missing, some small sections (about 1/4") missing along the lower edge, and a few areas of tear along the right edge and one tiny tear on the top edge. April 1930 (Vol. 1 # 10) featured McKay, England, Morrow. The front cover has a series of small missing sections usually 1/4" deep along the bottom left and right corners as well as the right and top edges of the page. May 1930 (Vol. 1 # 11) featured Repp, Stone, and Kateley. There is just a small tear along the right edge of the front cover on the edge closest to the date. Each issue is complete with firm spines. The spine wear is usually along the top and bottom edges and should be evident from that picture. These 8 issues are very collectible and in remarkable condition for their age. A real find! Auction Evaluations
Pulp Trader has a program which evaluates auction titles and descriptions, deciding what books and magazine issues are being offered. Listed below are its evaluations, shown as 1% to 99%. Naturally, this can never be as good as human judgement.

As a member, you can correct the stupid computer program. To change an existing evaluation, click on the Up or Down icon to its left. Up will raise the evaluation to 100% certainty. Down will lower it to 0%, meaning this auction is definitely not for that book.

To create a new evaluation, enter a Book ID# in the box above and press the Create button. You will then be shown the book data, and asked to verify the new evaluation. You must get the Book Key from a Book TOC page, or a Magazine Issue page.

After giving thumbs down to a few evaluations, or changing the item count, you can tell the program to re-evaluate by pressing the Re-Evaluate button. The program will re-evaluate the auction in a few minutes. All evaluations that are not 0 or 100 may change.

You can also set the exact number of Magazines and Books for auction. The Evaluation program sometimes gets this very wrong, especially when people mention their other auctions in the Description. When either field is blank, the Evaluation program uses its best guess as to how many items are for auction. You can set this to Zero, telling the program not to evaluate this auction. Or you can set it to some positive whole number to limit the number of evaluations.

At present, we do not evaluate auctions for books, so that field is not used. We will need it in the near future. The best way to use these fields is when an the program gives way too many evaluations. Just tell it how many items of each type are really for auction.
