Subject:  Pulp Magazines
Title:  WEIRD WORLDS OF ERB: 7 John Carter issues
Description:  This is a lot of the first 7 issues of DC Comics' Weird Worlds title, featuring adaptations of Edgar Rice Burroughs' John Carter of Mars and Pellucidar novels: Weird Worlds #1, August-September 1972. Pellucidar: "The Arena of Sudden Death," from At the Earth's Core, script by Len Wein, art by Alan Lee Weiss; plus part 4 of the A Princess of Mars adaptation: "Trial of Fear," script by Marv Wolfman and art by Murphy Anderson. Great John Carter cover by Joe Kubert! Very close to VF condition, some misplaced ink at the top during printing. (Note: The Pellucidar series began in Korak, Son of Tarzan #46, which I am offering separately this week on e-bay.) Weird Worlds #2, October-November 1972: Pellucidar installment is "Slaves of the Mahars," script by Len Wein, art by Alan Lee Weiss; plus part 5 of the John Carter adaptation: "Escape," script by Marv Wolfman and art by Murphy Anderson. Dramatic David Innes cover! VF-NM condition. Weird Worlds #3, December 1972-January 1973: Pellucidar: "Temple of the Damned," script by Len Wein, art by Alan Lee Weiss; plus part 6 of the John Carter adaptation: "Into the Valley of Death," script by Marv Wolfman and art by Murphy Anderson. Great cover featuring John Carter, Dejah Thoris and a menacing Martian monster! VF-NM condition.Weird Worlds #4, February-March 1973: Pellucidar: "Jubal the Ugly One," script by Denny O'Neil, art by Michael Wm. Kaluta; plus John Carter meets "Thuvia," script by Marv Wolfman and art by Sal Amendola. Great cover of David Innes battling a pterodactyl! VF-NM condition, except that a grain of sand or something at one time apparently worked its way into the plastic bag and left a very small indentation on the cover. Weird Worlds #5, April-May 1973: Pellucidar: "Combat!" script by Denny O'Neil, art by Dan Green; plus John Carter in "Deathknell," script by Marv Wolfman and art by Sal Amendola. Great cover by Mike Kaluta of John Carter battling a skeleton swordsman! Exceptionally nice, some minor spine stress at top staple and top edge. Weird Worlds #6, July-August 1973: Pellucidar: "Return!" script by Denny O'Neil, art by Dan Green; plus John Carter in "Beneath the Omean Sea," script by Marv Wolfman and art by Sal Amendola. Great cover of David Innes battling a horde of swordsmen. VF-NM condition. Weird Worlds #7, September-October 1973: Pellucidar: "The Trap," script by Denny O'Neil, art by Dan Green; plus John Carter in "Reunion," script by Marv Wolfman and art by Howard Chaykin. Great Chaykin cover of John Carter chained and at sword's point! Exceptionally nice, some very minor spine stress (see scan). Offered as a lot at a special low minimum bid, with no reserve! Winner pays $3.85 priority mail in U.S., actual shipping elsewhere. Will combine multiple purchases to save postage. Payment by Paypal, check or money order in U.S. funds or Canadian dollars at current exchange rate. Be sure to check out my other e-Bay auctions! FREE Counters and Services from Andale

Auction Evaluations
Pulp Trader has a program which evaluates auction titles and descriptions, deciding what books and magazine issues are being offered. Listed below are its evaluations, shown as 1% to 99%. Naturally, this can never be as good as human judgement.

As a member, you can correct the stupid computer program. To change an existing evaluation, click on the Up or Down icon to its left. Up will raise the evaluation to 100% certainty. Down will lower it to 0%, meaning this auction is definitely not for that book.

To create a new evaluation, enter a Book ID# in the box above and press the Create button. You will then be shown the book data, and asked to verify the new evaluation. You must get the Book Key from a Book TOC page, or a Magazine Issue page.

After giving thumbs down to a few evaluations, or changing the item count, you can tell the program to re-evaluate by pressing the Re-Evaluate button. The program will re-evaluate the auction in a few minutes. All evaluations that are not 0 or 100 may change.

You can also set the exact number of Magazines and Books for auction. The Evaluation program sometimes gets this very wrong, especially when people mention their other auctions in the Description. When either field is blank, the Evaluation program uses its best guess as to how many items are for auction. You can set this to Zero, telling the program not to evaluate this auction. Or you can set it to some positive whole number to limit the number of evaluations.

At present, we do not evaluate auctions for books, so that field is not used. We will need it in the near future. The best way to use these fields is when an the program gives way too many evaluations. Just tell it how many items of each type are really for auction.
