BRAN MAK MORN - Available in bookstores May 31st!
BRAN MAK MORN will be available in comic shops on June 2nd!
In ages past, the Picts ruled all of Europe. But the descendants of those proud conquerors have sunk into barbarism . . . all save one, Bran Mak Morn, whose bloodline remains unbroken. Threatened by the Celts and the Romans, the Pictish tribes rally under his banner to fight for their very survival, while Bran fights to restore the glory of his race.

Lavishly illustrated by award-winning artist Gary Gianni, this collection gathers together all of Howard’s published stories and poems featuring Bran Mak Morn–including the eerie masterpiece “Worms of the Earth” and “Kings of the Night,” in which sorcery summons Kull the conqueror from out of the depths of time to stand with Bran against the Roman invaders.  Also included are previously unpublished stories and fragments, reproductions of manuscripts bearing Howard’s handwritten revisions, and much, much more.

The trade paperback edition of BRAN MAK MORN by Robert E. Howard will feature the added bonus of a series of sketches by artist Gary Gianni. These sketches didn't appear in the Wandering Star limited edition hardcover, but were published separately by Wandering Star in ROBERT E. HOWARD'S BRAN MAK MORN: A SKETCHBOOK BY GARY GIANNI. The final contents haven't yet been chosen, but these are the sort of think that will be included. Click here to view.

These sketches join a previously-unpublished, untitled Robert E. Howard story, also scheduled for the Del Rey trade paperback, as added bonuses for Robert E. Howard fans everywhere.

Normand Design & Recoverings -  Four new McClurg Tarzan dust jackets are now available!
Now available from Normand Designs are the dust jacket recreations for TARZAN THE UNTAMED, TARZAN THE TERRIBLE, TARZAN AND THE ANT MEN, and TARZAN AND THE GOLDEN LION.

From the Recoverings newsletter, May 2005:

After almost a year of relative quiet here at Recoverings, I've started to set the wheels in motion to finish as many of the McClurg dust jackets as possible this year.

Over the last three months I've been working to get these four Tarzan jackets restored and reset, along with MASTER MIND OF MARS and THE MONSTER MEN. All of these jackets required extensive digitization of vintage linotype fonts along with the usual restoration of the cover art. In fact, though I hoped to announce the latter two jackets along with these, I am currently waiting on definitive type samples of the italic font used on them -- Benedictine Book Italic -- so that the weights will match exactly. I'll be letting you know when they are set to my satisfaction.

TYPE FONT PROJECT

In the meantime, having done so much in the way of type recreation lately, I've decided to start another project which has been on my idea board for some time. In order to get it going, I'd like to ask the J. Allen St. John collectors among you for help with resources.

If you have any examples of St. John's pen lettering in your collection, title pages or ad lettering, I'd like to get 300 dpi scans, or large photocopies of them. Of course, I have the samples from BEASTS, SON and JEWELS OF OPAR. What I'm looking for are samples from some of the other books that he did for McClurg & Co. or other publishers. I'm particularly interested in obtaining copies of the title pages for the Margaret Hill McCarter books (THE CORNER STONE [1915], CUDDY'S BABY [1917] and THE CANDLE IN THE WINDOW [1925]) published by McClurg & Co., and ALICE IN WONDERLAND: A DRAMATIZATION. . . [1915] from McClurg. I would also like to see a copy of OUR BABIES [1926] published by the City of Chicago, a medical pamphlet for new mothers with lettering by St. John. Though his lettering in these cases bears many similarities to the font Auriol designed by Georges Auriol, St. John's has enough of its own characteristics as to deserve immortality in a font. Any help I can get from you will be rewarded with a free copy of the finished product optimized for your computer system.

ONLINE PAYMENT AVAILABLE
If you are already signed up to PayPal, or if you want to give it a go, you can now pay for your jacket order electronically. Use my e-mail address, phil@recoverings.com, or use Normand Design, and don't forget to list the jackets you want in the comments field. This process has worked well for some of my new customers and you may find it easier than putting that check in the mail.

Thanks again for all your support in this endeavor. I know that you have the option of other facsimile jacket suppliers at lower prices, and I appreciate your loyalty. I know that I offer the highest quality restorations of these jackets and I intend to continue that dedication to accuracy and clarity until all the Burroughs jackets are available to you. I'm proud to have had my restorations used as the frontispieces in the Easton Press deluxe Tarzan and Mars collections.

Plutonium Nightmare - Now Available!
Plutonium Nightmare -a novel of The Voice- by Erwin K. Roberts is now available.
Contrary to popular belief the time for heroes did not end in the 1950's when Dan Fowler and The Masked Rider rode off into the sunset to join Doc and the others. True, the Independent Operator seemed unwelcome in the paranoid McCarthy era. Some went even deeper undercover to work. Some retired to start families.

The time is the spring of 1980. A shadowy figure known only as 'The Man' orchestrated a raid on the Breeder Reactor of the Hardin Nuclear Power Plant. He planned for every possible contingency, to include leading the police around in circles. He paid of his hired muscle, the H-8 Consortium, with an Atom Bomb made from the loot. 'The Man' prepares to auction off 70 kilos of plutonium enriched nuclear fuel, secure in the belief that he has covered every contingency.

'The Man' has never heard of The Voice, first of a new generation of Independent Operators. Wearing an assortment of faces, The Voice deals himself into the game. Using his father's gas gun, his own throwing knives, and a lot of raw fire power, The Voice will do anything necessary to force the radioactive genie back in the bottle.

Civilization continues to prove unsavory to the Cimmerian barbarian as he navigates through the teeming villainy of the City of Thieves. Determined to profit from this den of peril, Conan attempts to rob a luxuriant temple only to find himself face-to-face with an unscrupulous power bent upon its own escape. Edgar Rice Burroughs' LAND THAT TIME FORGOT
Will Murray posted in the PULPMAGS newsgroup that he recently interviewed the screenwriters of the Hallmark Entertainment MYSTERIOUS ISLAND miniseries airing this summer (July 2-3), and they told him they'd just begun
work on a 4 hour adaptation of Burroughs' LAND THAT TIME FORGOT for Summer 2006. One drawback is that it will be set in the modern day.

PULPMAGS - If you're interested in the old pulp magazines, this forum is the place to be. We deal with OLD pulps only! If you're looking for something dealing with modern "pulp fiction" style writing, you'd be bored here. This moderated list is set up along the lines of PEAPS, the Pulp Era Amateur Press Society, and all pulp fans across the world are welcome.

H.P. LOVECRAFT: AGAINST THE WORLD, AGAINST LIFE  - Now available!
by Michel Houellebecq
In this prescient work, the author focuses his considerable analytic skills on H.P. Lovecraft, the seminal, enigmatic horror writer of the early 20th century. Lovecraft and Houellebecq are kindred spirits, sharing a uniquely dark worldview. But even as he outlines Lovecraft's rejection of this loathsome world, it is Houellebecq's adulation for the author that drives this work and makes it a love song, infusing the writing with an energy and passion not seen in the author's previous works.

The Illustrators
The Illustrators is a 14 part series exploring the history of American Illustrators, beginning with the late 1800s through the present day. Though artists such as Norman Rockwell and N.C. Wyeth most commonly come to mind with the public, there exists an unknown history of illustrators that hasn't been explored in the documentary format. The series will present a detailed chronicle of illustrators and their work. Each program will showcase either a particular illustrator or genre of illustration, featuring interviews with several illustrators and historians. Drawing and painting techniques, design, composition, and color will be demonstrated by many of the artists in the series.

Jules Verne’s THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND  - Coming in July!
Jules Verne’s
THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND
premieres Saturday and Sunday, July 2-3, from Hallmark Entertainment.
It stars Kyle MacLachlan (“Twin Peaks”), Patrick Stewart (“The Lion in Winter,” “Moby Dick”), Gabrielle Anwar (“Scent of a Woman,” “Body Snatchers”), Omar Gooding (“Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper,” “Smart Guy”), and the UK’s Empire Award-winner Vinnie Jones (“Two Smoking Barrels”) and follows the adventures of a group of castaways who use their survivalist savvy to build a functional community on an uncharted island.

Based on Jules Verne’s classic novel,
THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND chronicles a hot air balloon that is blown far off course and crash lands with all of its passengers on an uncharted island. One of the marooned voyagers nearly dies after a skirmish with bloodthirsty buccaneers, but is saved by mysterious medicine. The group discovers their secret helper is Captain Nemo (Stewart) who later dies and is buried at sea in his beloved submarine.

King Kong by Delos W. Lovelace - Coming in September!
King Kong remains one of the most enduring icons of American popular culture — a massively destructive but curiously sympathetic giant gorilla whose rampage through New York City suggests, on a psychological level, the re-emergence of repressed desire. This novelization captures the pathos, drama, and horror of this story of the beast who loved a human beauty. The action begins with the controversial expedition of Hollywood filmmaker Carl Denham to Skull Island as he pursues a mythical monster. Enticing Kong with beautiful starlet Ann Darrow, Denham manages to chain the beast and bring him to New York, where he escapes to terrorize an entire city while pursuing the woman he loves. Expanded from the original story by Merian Cooper and British mystery maven Edgar Wallace, this version features stunning illustrations of the ape and his adventures.

WAR OF THE WORLDS GRAPHIC NOVEL - Available in comic shops May 25th!
Best Sellers Illustrated will launch its line of graphic novels in May with an adaptation of the H.G. Wells science-fiction classic, The War of the Worlds.

Vice-president Aron Kessler said, "Wells was far ahead of his time when The War of the Worlds was first published in book form in 1898. Not only was he a visionary, but he was also an astute social critic whose writings are as relevant today as they were over a century ago. For these reasons, we're able to remain true to the original story, while completely updating it for a modern audience."

The adaptation is written by Stephen Stern, writer/creator of the independent comic-book, Zen Intergalactic Ninja. Stern's other credits include the comic-book adaptation of the animated classic, Mr. Magoo¹s Christmas Carol and the collection of novellas and short stories, Alien Hero.

"The War of the Worlds isn¹t just a great science-fiction novel; it¹s great literature," Stern said. "As always in modernizing a classic, the task is to remain faithful to the spirit of the source material while re-imagining it in a contemporary context. In this instance, I¹m also shifting the locale from London and its environs to the New York metropolitan area. In light of recent history, this attack by the Martians takes on a chilling relevancy and poignancy."

War of the Worlds is illustrated by veteran Star Trek comic-book artist Arne Starr. The graphic novel will feature a cover by Frank Brunner.

Conan: Red Nails 2D/3D Animated Film
Sherman Oaks, California-based Swordplay Entertainment Inc., has begun principal production on the animated feature film, CONAN: RED NAILS, based on the classic story by the best-selling fantasy author Robert E. Howard, a new 2D/3D animated feature film, targeting a fall 2006 release on video/DVD, with a theatrical release pending test screening. New Line Home Entertainment has acquired all North American distribution rights to the animated feature film.

Cinema Management Group (CMG), an international sales company based in West Hollywood, headed by sales veteran Edward Noeltner, will be taking CONAN: RED NAILS to the Cannes Film Festival where it will be looking to set-up international pre-sales on the feature.  CONAN has previously been adapted into feature films, and television, but this is the first full-length animated feature film based on Conan the Cimmerian, a character Howard created in 1932.

The feature film is being directed by animation veteran Victor Dal Chele, (SPIDER-MAN, GHOSTBUSTERS, THE REAL ADVENTURES OF JOHNNY QUEST, BUTT-UGLY MARTIANS and ROBOCOP: ALPHA COMMANDO). Comics, animation and superheroes expert Steve Gold is onboard as the film's writer/producer while Larry Houston (THE X-MEN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, HBO'S SPAWN and DISNEY'S GARGOYLES) is animation director.

CONAN: RED NAILS, one of Howard's most famous stories, is both a sprawling epic and an equally engaging love story. When Conan and the pirate queen, Valeria, are betrayed in battle, they flee across harsh desert and trackless jungle only to confront the mystery and horror of a fabulous lost city. Conan becomes embroiled in a feud between the city's factions, and must triumph over dragons, demons and a host of human and magical foes to end the war and win Valeria's love.

"Steve Gold is an incredible cinematic storyteller, and renown Conan expert," said producer Jonathan Bogner. "We're all thrilled at this opportunity to bring his vision of Conan to life and work with some of the best artists in the world."
Gold and Dal Chele have assembled an impressive team of award-winning visual artists and tapped legendary illustrator Michael Kaluta as the key concept designer for the film.  "Michael has been associated with CONAN and the works of Robert E. Howard for more than 30 years. He brings an amazing scope and pedigree to the film," said Dal Chele.

Mark Schultz (CADILLACS & DINOSAURS) who recently illustrated THE COMING OF CONAN THE CIMMERIAN: VOLUME 1 for publishing house Ballentine and Del Ray, will add additional concept designs, as will leading fantasy painter and book cover artist, Donato Giancola. Greg Horn, a longtime Conan fan, and a hot young artist for comics and videogames will also be contributing artwork for the project.

"I couldn't be more pleased with the creative and business teams we've assembled for this film. We all feel a tremendous respect and responsibility to the Conan franchise and Conan's legions of fans around the world," said Gold. "This is going to be an incredible ride!" he added.

Exec producers are David Schwarcz, a founder of Swordplay Ent. (http://www.conanrednails.com), the company overseeing the production; Peter Sederowsky, chairman of Paradox Entertainment, the owners of Conan Properties International Llc., which owns the underlying rights to the Conan franchise; Frederik Malmberg, exec director of Conan Properties Int'l and Patricia Gillum (MIRACLE DOGS) while Nicholas Temple is onboard as co-executive producer.

Howard's Conan is about to celebrate his 75th birthday and is still going strong as one of the most successful entertainment franchises. Conan has sold more than $1 billion dollars through film, television and merchandise. Conan Properties licenses include Ballentine/Del Rey Books, McFarlane Toys - now releasing its CONAN: Series 2 action figures, Dark Horse Comics and Funcom, the online gaming house preparing to launch the MMOG AGE OF CONAN. Conan Properties Int'l. is developing a live-action Conan feature film with Warner Bros., most likely as a major summer tentpole for 2007.

A Princess of Mars
William Stout, Bernie Wrightson, and Michael W. Kaluta were hired to be key designers on the team designing Edgar Rice Burroughs' "A Princess of Mars" movie for Paramount. The director is Kerry Conran; the production designer is Kevin Conran. Together they created the astounding "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" feature.

After working for six hours on the film, Stout had to walk away. Paramount would not allow him to keep his original art nor would they allow him to reproduce any of the original art during his lifetime --- even in retrospectives of his career! After making over 30 feature films, Stout was not about to start cutting himself worse deals on a movie. Stout has been keeping his original art on films from the very start of his film career, even when he was unknown in the business. Stout is at the point in his career where the art he produces for a film can be sold for more than he was hired to draw and paint it in the first place.

Bernie Wrightson is still on "A Princess of Mars", Michael Kaluta is not!  Kaluta worked on the show for about as long as Stout did and left for similar reasons.

Robert Bloch - The Skeleton in the Closet: the Reader's Bloch, Volume 2
Subterranean Press is now accepting pre-orders for The Skeleton in the Closet: the Reader's Bloch, Volume 2.
It's no secret that a hefty helping of Robert Bloch's fiction remains unreprinted or uncollected since its original publication in pulp magazines, digests and anthologies of original stories. These stories run the full gamut of genres for which Bloch wrote--fantasy, horror, science fiction, mystery--and all showcase Bloch's inimitable style.

Subterranean Press's The Reader's Bloch series was conceived to give these stories a well-deserved nesting place. It is currently planned to run to two, possibly three volumes, containing approximately fifty stories spanning Bloch's career from the late 1930s to the early 1990s. The series will stand independent of The Lost Bloch series, which concentrated primarily on novella and short-novel length works, but readers who enjoyed those volumes will find the same fun and thrills in these books.

The SPIDER, Master of Men, champion of humanity, fought with every ounce of his cunning, against the monster who personified evil incarnate--while one faithful servant gave his life in this, the SPIDERs most bitter, hopeless battle, and Nita herself was faced with a doom more ghastly than any criminal mind had conceived before!  Norvell Page is at his writing best in this Spider adventure during the peak of the Spider series.

20th Century Fox rep Tom Rothman said to Sci-Fi Wire at the Saturn Awards that a sequel to Alien vs. Predator is happening - "We will do another one of those for sure. It was a big success. In the new Alien vs. Predator they will finally actually really come to our world... It's likely that we will bridge the gap, and the beginning of that will be setting it in our contemporary universe."

Blood 'N' Thunder Guide to Collecting Pulps - Coming in July!
Now that they have assumed their proper place in the history of American popular culture, pulp magazines are increasingly sought after by enthusiasts entranced with the vigorous, sometimes outré fiction contained in their coarse pages.  Some collectors are attracted by the vibrant, often lurid covers these periodicals sport. Overall, interest in pulps is at an all-time high.  But where to begin? How does one determine which pulps are worthwhile, or how much they are worth?

The BLOOD 'N' THUNDER GUIDE TO COLLECTING PULPS addresses these questions - and many others - by outlining the scope of the field and identifying, genre by genre, the most desirable issues of the hottest titles.  In this informative volume you'll learn everything you need to know about assembling a pulp-magazine collection, whether you're interested in obtaining a smattering of representative titles or building a comprehensive library.

Blood 'N' Thunder Guide to Collecting Pulps
Brother Men: The Correspondence of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Herbert T. Weston
Brother Men is the first published collection of private letters of Edgar Rice Burroughs, the phenomenally successful author of adventure, fantasy, and science fiction tales, including the Tarzan series. The correspondence presented here is Burroughs's decades-long exchange with Herbert T. Weston, the maternal great-grandfather of this volume's editor, Matt Cohen. The trove of correspondence Cohen discovered unexpectedly during a visit home includes hundreds of items—letters, photographs, telegrams, postcards, and illustrations—spanning from 1903 to 1945. Since Weston kept carbon copies of his own letters, the material comprises a record of a lifelong friendship that had begun in the 1890s, when the two men met in military school. In these letters, Burroughs and Weston discuss their experiences of family, work, war, disease and health, sports, and new technology over a time period spanning two World Wars, the Great Depression, and widespread political change. Their exchanges provide a window into the personal writings of the legendary creator of Tarzan and reveal Burroughs's ideas about race, nation, and what it meant to be a man in early-twentieth-century America.

The Burroughs-Weston letters trace a fascinatingly interwoven emotional and business relationship that evolved as the two men and their wives engaged in joint capital ventures, traveled frequently, and navigated the difficult waters of child-rearing, divorce, and aging. Brother Men includes never-before-published images, annotations, and a critical introduction in which Cohen explores the significance of the sustained, emotional male friendship evident in the letters. Rich with insights related to visual culture and media technologies, consumerism, the history of the family, the history of authorship and readership, and the development of the West, these letters make it clear that Tarzan was only one small part of Edgar Rice Burroughs's broad engagement with modern culture.

CONAN AND THE JEWELS OF GWAHLUR #2 (of 3) - Available May 11th in comic shops!
P. Craig Russell (Writer/Artist)   - A preview is now online at Dark Horse Comics.
For once, it’s not Conan doing the beheading—and he doesn’t like it.
Conan manages to play everyone into the positions he needs them in order to steal the coveted jewels, but he’s still victim to the mystical fortress in which they’re contained, and the primitive thugs who worship the dead oracle watching over the Teeth of Gwahlur.

P. Craig Russell has proved himself not only one of the greatest fantasy artists in the history of comics, from his early work on Elric through collaborations with Neil Gaiman, and the only man to make a reputation adapting stories from other media, including his award-winning Ring of the Nibelung. His adaptation of Howard is a real masterpiece, as inventive and intricate as anything he’s done to date.

King Conan: Crown of Iron
"Sin City" co-director Robert Rodriguez, will direct a new take on author Robert E. Howard's Cimmerian warrior, "CONAN", for Warner Bros. Pictures. "It was the breasts and bloodlust of 'Sin City' that clinched it for Rodriguez," said one studio insider.  Director John Milius' script for "King Conan: Crown of Iron" has been put on hold.

The studio says that if Rodriguez can get Arnold Schwarzenegger to star, the project would still be called "King Conan" but would have a new script.

Talbot Mundy, Philosopher of Adventure, A Critical Biography by Brian Taves
This critical biography chronicles both the actual travels and the philosophical meanderings of Talbot Mundy, one of the pioneers of the fantasy and adventure genre. Less celebrated than his contemporaries Rudyard Kipling and Joseph Conrad, Mundy was no less gifted when it came to the literary portrayal of faraway lands. He was one of the first western writers to show an appreciation of eastern culture, and his writing became an outlet for his radical ideas on religion and philosophy.

At the age of sixteen, Mundy left his native England to begin his life of adventure—a journey that took him from India to the Middle East to Tibet and finally to America, which became his adopted home. The American spirit of adventure matched Mundy’s own, and it was here that he found a true audience for his work.

This book explores Mundy’s oeuvre—much of it set in exotic locales through which he himself had traveled—and considers both his novels and his lesser known writing, as well as his film and radio work. Books such as Rung Ho!, King-of the Khyber Rifles, Caves of Terror, Purple Pirate and Tros of Samothrace are discussed and placed within the framework of Mundy’s life and philosophy. The final chapter evaluates the enduring value of his writings. Appendices include a comprehensive list of Mundy’s works and a chronological listing by their original publication dates.

Mission: Impossible 3
"Lost" and "Alias" executive producer J.J. Abrams recently spoke briefly about how his plans to direct "Mission: Impossible 3" are going.  First he confirmed Carrie-Anne Moss and Scarlett Johansson are no longer part of the cast - "The script was rewritten. I'm a huge fan of each actor that they cast originally, but to have kept the actors when we are reinventing the story would have been an odd process, to say, 'Write a script with these people in mind for characters that haven't been written.' It just felt like we had to start over with a clean slate."

Pre-production is heavily underway with shooting to start in July. Paramount is aiming for a Summer 2006 release.

Ed Hoch (confirmed)

Edward D. Hoch was born February 22, 1930, in Rochester, New York.  His first story, Village of the Dead, was published in the December 1955 issue of FAMOUS DETECTIVE.  Hoch has published nearly 900 short stories and is the leading contemporary writer of true puzzle plot mysteries. Much of Hoch's work centers on series detectives, many of which have been featured in long-running sequences of short stories. Many of Hoch's series detectives tend to personify different mystery subgenres. Captain Leopold tales are police procedurals; Dr. Sam Hawthorne, impossible crimes; Nick Velvet, Rogue thieves who turn detective; Jeffery Rand, the mystery tale based in espionage; Ben Snow, the historical mystery. Hoch can shift to any of these genres simply by altering his series protagonist.  Hoch is a winner of the Edgar Award, former President of the Mystery Writers of America, and the 2001 Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America.  Click here for more on Hoch's detective series.  Several of Hoch's detective series anthologies are available from Crippen & Landru.  Edward D. The Stories of Clifford D. Simak: Volume One: Eternity Lost & Other Stories
- Now available!
Clifford D. Simak produced over 140 short stories during his long and illustrious career. Until now, there has never been an attempt to collect his entire output in book form. Darkside Press is pleased to announce the first in a project twelve-volume series which will at long last gather all of the short fiction of Clifford D. Simak into book form. Editor Phil Stephenson-Payne has painstakingly assembled twelve volumes with an eye toward each book serving as an overview of the great author's output. Each volume will contain approximately 125,000 words and feature a mix of the well-known and the obscure. Each volume will feature a guest introduction by a well-known author in the genre and each volume is strictly limited to 500 copies (as are all of our Darkside Press titles). Volume one is now shipping (just prior to the centenary anniversary of the author's birth).

Obviously this project will take several years for completion as these titles will be interspersed with the other Darkside Press releases. For those wishing to support this project and guard against possible price increases, we are offering a subscription plan. $400.00 will guarantee a full set of matching numbered volumes. You get two books free and a matched set! For payment instructions e-mail jpelan@cnw.com.

William Hope Hodgson  - Now available from Shocklines!
The Wandering Soul: Glimpses of a Life: A Compendium of Rare and Unpublished Works by William Hope Hodgson
Compiled and Introduced by Jane Frank & with a Foreword by Mike Ashley

The Wandering Soul is the book admirers of William Hope Hodgson (1877-1918) have been waiting for.  Tragically killed in action at the end of World War One, Hodgson has acquired a formidable reputation for his classic weird writings, which include the monumental novel The Night Land, and atmospheric tales of maritime terror fuelled by his early adventures as an apprentice in the Merchant Navy.

In The Wandering Soul, Jane Frank has compiled much previously unpublished and uncollected material, gleaned from editor and science-fiction historian Sam Moskowitz's 'Hodgson Archive'. Presented here are 'Coasts of Adventure', a collection of stories never before published in book form; Hodgson's 'Ship's Log' from one of his early sea voyages; photographs of Hodgson and his family; newly-discovered poetry; Hodgson's wonderful and historically important sea-going photographs; factual articles from contemporary newspapers and journals; and an unpublished slide lecture, all augmented by Jane Frank's carefully researched Introduction and a critical appreciation of the fiction and poetry.

The wide-ranging elements of the book are melded together by William Hope Hodgson's uniquely potent imagination and vigorous approach to life, and their publication can only enhance our understanding and appreciation of his life and work.

The Wandering Soul is published by PS Publishing and Tartarus Press in the form of a limited trade edition (500 copies), and a special limited edition (150 copies which will be slipcased along with a volume of Hodgson's unpublished poetry.) Please visit the PS Publishing website for further details. Please note: Copies are available from PS Publishing  and Shocklines.
