Dickens's follow-up to Household Words. Each issue usually ran a short story and a serial, plus a range of popular articles. Circulation peaked at 300,000 for the Xmas issues. Emphasis was on serials which included Dickens's "A Tale of Two Cities" (1859) and "Great Expectations" (1860 - 1861), "The Woman in White" (1859 - 1860) and "The Moonstone" (1868) by Collins, "A Strange Story" (1861 - 1862) by Bulwer Lytton, "Green Tea" (1869) and others by Le Fanu. Also work by Rosa Mulholland, G.A. Sala, Amelia Edwards, Mary Braddon and Anthony Trollope.

Amazing

Total Issues: 1

Apparently an "ashcan" issue published for trademark purposes. Ziff-Davis issued a large number of these in the late 40's but the purpose of this one is not certain. It is known that Howard Browne planned to convert Amazing Stories to a large-size, semi-slick format in 1950 but was thwarted by paper rationing when the Korean War started. This issue may have been printed to protect a modified version of Amazing's title and logo.
