Double-Action Detective StoriesTotal Issues: 24?Double Action Detective Stories was a pulp magazine in every way but size, at a time when the competition had moved on to more sophisticated material. Initially published only twice a year (although the issues weren't dated), it shifted to a quarterly schedule after the fifth issue, and then to a bimonthly schedule the following year, changing its name at much the same time to Double Action Detective and Mystery Stories. Double-Action Gang MagazineTotal Issues: 6+9+1=16Double-Action Gang Magazine was a short-lived member of the "Double Action" magazine group and claimed to be oriented to "guns, gangsters, gun molls and stories of true gang life". It ran on a vaguely bimonthly schedule for 4 years. The final, October 1939, issue was confusingly renamed to True Gangster Stories despite containing the same mix of fact and fiction as before. The Dragnet MagazineTotal Issues: 17+24+162=203Ten Detective Aces was probably the most successful of the many magazines that Harold Hersey launched, and certainly one of the longest running, but it took a while to find its mark. For the first 16 issues (to April 1930) it was called The Dragnet Magazine> and initially focussed on stories about gangsters and organised crime. However, by 1930 public interest in gangsters was fading and the magazine became more of a detective pulp, initially (for 24 issues) under the hybrid name Detective-Dragnet Magazine and then finally, from March 1933, under the name Ten Detective Aces under which it ran for an impressive 16 years.
