Routledge's Christmas Annual

An annual which published some supernatural tales by Amelia B. Edwards and others. The issues varied between story collections and novels and were somewhat erratically numbered/named/dated. Issues known are:

"Described as "for young British Manhood". It was edited by A.L. Haydon of the Boy's Own Paper. It had similar stories and articles to those which appeared in The Scout." (W.O.G. Lofts)

The final issue announced "Owing to decreased circulation during the summer months, the publisher has decided to suspend publication of any further issues of Rovering. The competition in this number is cancelled."

The Royal Magazine

The first issue states that the initial print order for The Royal was one million copies, the total of which weighed nearly 300 tons and stood nearly 5 miles high. Published first stories by William Hope Hodgson (1904) and Sax Rohmer (1905); other authors include Baroness Orczy, M.P. Shiel.
