Short Stories [1890]
Total Issues: 1114
Initially most of the stories -- "25 stories for 25 cents" -- were
reprints from all over, including translations; after 1910 converted
into an all-fiction pulp adventure magazine, with stories by Sax Rohmer,
W.C. Tuttle, Harold Lamb, Max Brand, Talbot Mundy, L. Patrick Greene,
James B. Hendryx, Edgar Wallace, etc.
The final issue stated that it was whole number 2014, but a huge mistake
was made in whole number totals between December 10, 1948 (whole no.
1029) and December 25, 1948 (whole no. 1930), a mistake of 900 whole
numbers that was never corrected. So, subtracting 900 from 2014, we get
a total run of 1114 issues.
There was also a sequencing error in 1946 when Vol. 197 No. 3 was followed
by Vol. 198 No. 4.
