The Windsor Magazine

The most successful rival to The Strand, it managed to appeal equally to men and women, though by the 1920s was shifting more toward the women's market. It published Arthur Morrison, Guy Boothby ("Dr Nikola" stories), Dornford Yates, Rudyard Kipling, E.F. Benson, Marie Corelli, Max Pemberton, S. Baring-Gould, Grant Allen, Eden Phillpotts, Edgar Wallace.

Wings was Britain's first aviation fiction magazine. It was issued by the publisher of Captain W. E. Johns's books and may have taken its title from Johns's own early novel, Wings (1931). Johns featured heavily in the magazine's first four issues with both stories and articles, as did Wilfrid Tremellen, Arch Whitehouse, J. Railton Holden and George Fielding Eliot.
