He published his autobiography in 1906, as well as a piece of fiction entitled Warned Off: A Romance of the Turf, and also wrote under the pseudonym Kiatib Effendi a book entitled East is East and West is West. A biography of him was written by John Welcome pseud. of John Needham Huggard Brennan entitled Neck or Nothing, Faber, 1970.
