Western Story Magazine

Country: US
Total Issues: 591+356+8+1282+11=2248

Started as a dime-novel library called The Buffalo Bill Stories which then changed into New Buffalo Bill Weekly, both featuring the adventures of the eponymous hero. The title changed in 1919 to Western Story Magazine but the first 8 issues contined to be a dime-novel series featuring Buffalo Bill before changing to a pulp magazine on 5-Sep-1919 (v8#1) although the first two pulp issues, at least, continued to have Buffalo Bill stories.

Note that in 1943 the frequency of the magazine changed: up to the February 13th 1943 issue Western Story Magazine was a weekly, then there was six-week gap until 20th March, before then settling down to a fortnightly publication schedule. Note also that there were NO issues in February 1920.

Western Story Magazine (UK) [1966]

Country: UK
Total Issues: 2?

"This issue contains stories by Steve Frazee, Bill Gulick, Noel Loomis, H.A. DeRosso and Ernest Haycox. This would be an impressive line-up even for an anthology, but it's pretty incredible for a monthly magazine. (Of course, they're all American reprints, so it is kind of like an anthology, but the selection is still remarkable. The American reprint mags I've seen have mostly been dreck.)"
