The Red Book

Country: US
Total Issues: 1382

Founded in the early years of the twentieth century, along with Green Book and Blue Book, Red Book originally carried fiction aimed at women and might have been considered a pulp magazine. By the end of 1929 it had become Redbook and was carrying material similar to other women's magazines. It still continued to publish fiction well into the 1980s, although less and less frequently as the years progressed. The November 2000 issue is the last issue that is known to have contained any fiction.

Early authors little known but later included Ellis Parker Butler, Octavus Roy Cohen, George Allan England, Gilbert Parker, Albert Payson Terhune; became 'the Magazine for Young Readers' in 1949 before becoming an upmarket women's magazine in the 1960s. Absorbed American Home in Mar-1978.

Went digital-only in January 2019.
