        Vampire novel, a sequel to Polidori’s The Vampyre; originally misattributed to Charles Nodier. Translated/adapted by Brian Stableford from the French Lord Ruthwen, ou les Vampires (Ladvocat 1820); Stableford’s introduction discusses the book’s history.












    Looking Far West: The Search for the American West in History, Myth, and Literature ed. Frank Bergon & Zeese Papanikolas (Mentor, 1978, 476pp, hc, an)
        An academic collection of historical/literary excerpts from many sources, including such Western authors as Zane Grey, Mari Sandoz, Crane, Steinbeck, Larry McMurtry, etc. No discernible pulp material. This contains over two hundred short excerpts of various sorts, almost all from nonfiction texts. (There are a couple dozen poems.) Aside from some Native creation myths and a couple of tall tales reprinted from nonfiction sources, only “fiction” items are listed.
